The Key’s Captain’s Course is the most comprehensive program ever developed to prepare NYPD members for the Captain’s promotional exam. This course combines live instruction, expert guidance, and full digital access through The Key Online Promotion System (K.O.P.S.), creating a complete learning experience both in person and online.
Enrollment includes the Key Question App with over 5,000 practice questions, as well as hard copy materials — The Key Captain’s Admin Guide Digest, The Key Legal Digest, and the NYPD Patrol Guide and Admin Guide (a $77 value). Included are Re-writes of prior sergeant, lieutenant and captain exams dating back to 2006. Students receive 24/7 access to the K.O.P.S. Learning Management System, recorded class videos, supplemental materials, and live-streaming options for those unable to attend in person.
The course also includes on-the-go audio learning, a digital Key Library containing the NYPD Patrol Guide, Admin Guide, Legal Bureau Bulletins, Crime Reporting Guide, and Penal Law, and in-depth lesson plans covering every topic tested — Patrol Guide, Admin Guide, Legal Bureau Bulletins, Penal Law, Math, Grammar, and Supervision.
Students will also master Captain’s CompStat math and test-taking techniques through focused lessons based on prior exams. And as always, The Key remains the only school where students can earn accredited college credits while preparing for promotion.
